It is not uncommon for quoting issues to arise after recent changes have been made to a product. This can occur for many reasons, the most common being:
- Processing Engine
Ensure that the ‘Turbo Rater’ is selected as the processing engine. This rater uses a different library to process Excel, enabling it to handle larger, more complex rating worksheets.
NOTE: not applicable if using RaaS
- Formatting
- Text vs Number
- If a text question type is being used for a numerical input, excel may not recognize the data as a value and fail to rate. Solutions include changing the question type to number within the Dais system or making an adjustment in excel to use the =VALUE() function to change text output to a number. When using the latter, perform this calculation in a new cell (off to the side) to be used in rating.
- Percentages
- The response to a percent question type is saved as a number, not as a decimal or a percent. Therefore, the answer will need to be entered as a decimal (for example, 10% entered as 0.10) or as a whole number with an adjustment in excel to divide by 100 and turn it into a percent to be used in rating.
- Text vs Number
- Mappings
When new questions are added to a product, ensure that they have been mapped to your excel rater in the Events & Actions section of your product.
If all input values have been mapped, then confirm that all output values have also been mapped.
- QID’s
If QID’s are changed on questions that were previously mapped to a rating spreadsheet, the questions will need to be re-mapped to your excel rater for changes to take effect.
Additionally, if a question has been moved within the order of questions for intake, this may change the questions QID. For example, say we have a question regarding the insured's address that is moved from the policy detail to the location detail level. The QID would change from LOB[0].address to LOB[0].LOBLocation[0].address, and thus require re-mapping.
